To some, Bill McCartney is best known as the former football coach at the University of Colorado who was instrumental in starting the Promise Keepers ministry. On this production, he reads brief Scripture passages between musical passages performed by various artists. McCartney has a clear, unadorned voice -- the audio equivalent of a firm handshake -- and the CD's producers have struck a good balance between the Scripture readings and the music. The resulting album sets a good atmosphere for commuting and other car trips. Be sure to check out "He Is Our Father" below; the song is based on Psalms 103 and 68, and touches my heart with its reminders of God's love for us.
